151,600 people will die today in this world. Yet how many will be remembered or honoured outside of the few family members that loved them?  Perhaps if they could putt a ball into a hole, or kick a ball into a net better than the rest of us, we would notice and honour them.  Perhaps if they were famous for their ability to sing or dance, or athletically superior, we would remember them.

You see, we live in a world that has misguided values concerning people’s worth.  A football player or actor is worth millions, while a father or mother who faithfully goes to a boring job every day to put food on a table for his or her family, is of little worth in society’s value system.

And that is not where it ends. My friend JJ says; that we have a world obsessed with old things. We love old houses, old wine, old books, old cars, old movies… but we discard old people.  So when we think about that number today, 151,600, they will hardly be noticed expect by those closest to them.

This is why we in Australia are fixated with drugs, drinking and a myriad of other addictions, as well as having the highest youth suicide in the world. People certainly don’t feel valued, and believe that they are just another being in this world.  I believe we have been defrauded of our true worth.  We are actually of infinite worth in the eyes of the One who created us.
Outside of having a purpose, a destiny and real worth, our lives would be somewhat meaningless.

We should therefore live with the knowledge of our true worth and permeate others with the same value system.  The good book states that: I have valued and loved you with an infinite love and with loving kindness have I attracted you to me, Jeremiah 31:3
