As an Educator, Motivator and Administrator, there is one thing above all others that bewilders and vexes me.  How many times have I met people with amazing gifts, talents, capacities and capabilities, and yet somehow these people manage to never reach the height that their proficiencies were designed for.  Some of them only barely make a mark in life, and go on being satisfied with their comfortable mediocrity, instead of finding their purpose and excellence.

Often it is those of lesser talents that have excelled and succeeded, while the greater talented ones never reached anywhere near their potential. I have watched in their later life as they have lamented and sometimes resented their wasted opportunities and life.

Reading the biographies of many successful people in this world, several things become obvious. There are certain characteristics that are common amongst those who accomplish and triumph:

  • A drive to be all that you can be, is essential.
  • A determination not to be derailed by what others think of you, is also common.
  • A willingness to rise from failures and move forward with greater zeal.
  • A Commitment to hard work, is the distinguishing characteristic above all others.

It is so easy to seem satisfied with averageness and ordinariness, but ultimately there is an empty feeling that follows you that “you could have been” so much more.  We are never too old, too tired or too exasperated to find a greater purpose and fulfilment even in this world. Your usefulness here, speaks amazingly about your eternal plans as well.

It takes courage and belief, to undo the habits of a life weakness, procrastination and complacency, but there are immense rewards of satisfaction awaiting those who venture forward and upward.  The Good Books states: The people who Know their God, shall be full of courage and achieve great things. Dan 11:32

Do you want to achieve great things, or are you satisfied to just reflect on what COULD HAVE BEEN…
