I meet and see everyday people scarred as a consequence of some form of rejection.  We live in a society that loves the beautiful, the talented, the rich and the popular.  The result of this is that, if you don’t fall into one of these categories, you will be inadvertently regarded as of little worth, by a society fixated by magazine covers and the number of Instagram followers one has.

This form of classical conditioning starts at school where if you are not great at sport, academically gifted or part of the cool group, you are seen as of lower worth, if not valueless.

And so societal scarring leaves its wounds on people who would otherwise be confident, happy and balanced. The wounds manifest themselves in dysfunctional behaviour, anger, fear, a distinct lack of confidence and a plethora of addictions or obsessive behaviours.

This is why the toxic values of this world are not a guide for defining your worth. An endless quest for achievements, power or friendships, will never make up for the deficiencies.

Our true value can only be estimated in the eyes of the one who looks beyond our damage and sees our latent worth. A value that is defined only as you see yourself through God’s eyes.

You are of infinite worth…
